This Beautiful Egg of Ruth's won 1st prize and Standard of Excellence in the Sydney Royal Easter Show 1999.One very unhappy person rang me and demand I tell the truth and admit I had made this egg. I was very flattered that somebody thought so well of my work, but definately made a big mistake in thinking I was a really nice person and would supply Ruth with a winning egg.Accuracy when marking, patience with the beading won the day for Ruth.This little tale needed to be told in defence of Ruth who worked very hard to achieve the best egg possible.Anybody who has even a small knowledge of how to decorate eggs only needs to look at this egg to see how simple it really is sadly, Ruth has now retired .
As you can see Ruth really excelled in beaded eggs .Probably because her age being 80 plus endowed her with the patience required .This Beautiful Egg also won Ruth a 2nd prize in the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2000. Done in the style of Dot Cannon an American teacher who can make beads sing .
This Beautiful Egg of Ruth's is patchwork in leather ,snake skin,decals, several types of braids and findings which also won Ruth a 2nd prize in the Sydney Royal Show 2001.If you follow the years you will see them rising which also means Ruth's age was rising with them.Not a bad effort? Haveing worked with Ruth I can only hope to stay as receptive to learning as Ruth, as I grow more mature.
