We will provide an environment where all individuals are encouraged to learn, develop and achieve their potential within an Armenian Christian community.

School Philosophy

We are a private, ethnic school dedicated to the education of the whole child and to the preservation of the Armenian language and culture, and this within an environment permeated with the Christian philosophy of man.

At St Gregory's Armenian School we aim at presenting an excellent education set in the vision and values of the Christian Faith. We attempt to develop a caring community which students, teachers, parents and friends can all participate. All our endeavours are focused on the total growth of the child - spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. In the school motto we proudly say, "We will grow".

Underlying the foundation of our school is the ongoing preservation and presentation of the Armenian culture. Language is the seedbed of culture, and Armenian is stressed in the curriculum. It is our aim to promote the beauty and strength of this culture and make a gift of it to the Australian society which is proudly multicultural.

We recognise the power which education has in society to promote freedom, justice and peace and we aim to offer a curriculum that is relevant, satisfying, challenging and empowering. We aim to offer role-models that affirm the dignity of men and women.

St Gregory's Armenian School has grown consistently each year since 1985, and is now an established Independent School servicing the Armenian Community in Sydney.

St Gregory’s demonstrates its commitments to these aims by:

  • Offering a curriculum which employs effective teaching methods in addressing a broad range of student learning abilities.
  • Providing a Religious Education program which is relevant and meaningful, and responds to the mix of Christian traditions of the school community.
  • Incorporating methods of assessment and evaluation designed to improve the quality of both teaching and learning.
  • Presenting opportunities for parents and teachers to learn and to be involved in a caring, educational community.
  • Implementing structures to involve teachers, parents and guardians in the decision-making process.
  • Ensuring that each student has ample opportunity to develop language skills.
  • Promoting extra-curricula activities for students and staff such as choir, musical production, camping and fund-raising activities.
